A graduate of Medicine from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, Dr. Obiodunukwe holds postgraduate qualifications in Assisted Reproduction Technology and Molecular Biology from the prestigious University of Warwick, United Kingdom. His rare combination of clinical expertise, scientific innovation, and business leadership has positioned him among the leading voices shaping the molecular diagnostics and biotechnology ecosystem in Africa.

With deep expertise spanning molecular biology, healthcare management, biotechnology commercialization, strategic operations, finance, business development, and market expansion, he has successfully built and scaled high-impact healthcare ventures from concept to industry leadership. His strategic insight and execution capabilities have enabled the creation of sustainable, technology-driven diagnostic solutions serving both clinical and research communities.

In 2012, Dr. Obiodunukwe founded a clinical laboratory enterprise, which was strategically restructured in 2016 to address Nigeria’s growing demand for advanced molecular diagnostics and biotechnology services. Under his leadership, the organization evolved from a start-up into a multimillion-dollar molecular diagnostics enterprise, becoming one of the leading molecular biology and biotechnology companies in Nigeria.

Today, DemyHealth stands as a trusted reference point for precision diagnostics, DNA testing, genomics, molecular laboratory infrastructure, biotechnology solutions, advanced research support, and specialized healthcare innovation. The company has played a critical role in expanding molecular diagnostic capacity in Nigeria, including contributing to the establishment and support of numerous molecular laboratories nationwide.

Dr. Obiodunukwe provides strategic oversight for molecular assay development and optimization, assay validation, laboratory quality management systems, biosafety and biosecurity implementation, and WHO-compliant laboratory operations. He also leads biomedical engineering and laboratory infrastructure projects, including molecular laboratory design; equipment installation and maintenance; technical workforce development; logistics systems; and laboratory supply chain management.

Beyond diagnostics, he is widely respected as a mentor and capacity builder in molecular biology and biotechnology, having directly and indirectly trained and mentored thousands of scientists, molecular biologists, healthcare professionals, and biotechnology practitioners across Africa. His work continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge global biotechnology innovations and accessible healthcare solutions within emerging markets.

Dr. Terry Gbaa is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist, Clinical Biochemist, and Translational Researcher with over 13 years of experience spanning the UK and Nigeria. His expertise lies at the intersection of clinical diagnostics, molecular biology, and precision medicine, with a strong focus on lipid and metabolic disorders. He currently serves as Deputy Laboratory Director at DemyHealth Group, where he drives quality improvement, laboratory compliance, and efficient diagnostic service delivery.

Dr. Gbaa holds a Diplomate in Clinical Biochemistry from the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), a distinction-level MSc in Clinical Biochemistry, and a Fellowship in Chemical Pathology. He has a proven track record in clinical leadership, having managed high-containment laboratories and improved diagnostic accuracy and turnaround times across multiple institutions.

An active researcher, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in cardiovascular, endocrine, and molecular diagnostics, with a particular interest in lipoprotein(a) and precision cardiovascular therapy. He is also experienced in data analysis, research design, and translational science.

Passionate about education and mentorship, Dr. Gbaa has taught and supervised medical students and trainees while contributing to curriculum development. His work is driven by a commitment to translating laboratory science into impactful patient care and advancing global health outcomes.

Dr. Sharon O. Akinpelu

Dr. Sharon Akinpelu is a molecular biologist with experience in life science research. She earned her PhD in Microbiology from Covenant University, where her doctoral research explored the urinary and gut microbiome profiles of Nigerian prostate cancer patients. Dr. Sharon also holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Lagos, where she investigated efflux pump and biofilm-forming genes in antibiotic-resistant clinical isolates, and a First-Class Honours Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Bowen University.

Dr. Sharon is passionate about genomic medicine and the intricate role of microorganisms in cancer development. She is particularly interested in the integration of genomics into routine diagnostics and the development of precision medicine solutions tailored for African populations.

Over the years, she has engaged in research projects focused on exploring the molecular basis of disease, with the goal of contributing to improved diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. Her research portfolio reflects experience in laboratory research and research design. She has worked with multiple research teams and independently conducted studies involving DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), electrophoresis, microbial culturing, and genetic data analysis.

She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in reputable scientific journals, covering topics such as microbial pathogenesis, host-microbe interactions, and the genomic profiling of cancer-related microbiota.

Ali Casmir Kasiemobi is a renowned Medical Laboratory Scientist with a proven track record of excellence in molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from Ebonyi State University, Nigeria. With over five years of progressive experience in diagnostic laboratory medicine and more than three years of hands-on expertise in molecular laboratories, MLS Casmir stands at the forefront of innovation in Nigeria’s rapidly advancing biomedical landscape.

Driven by a passion for molecular medicine and cutting-edge technology, MLS Casmir has played a pivotal role in expanding molecular testing services across the country. As Head of Molecular Diagnostics at DemyHealth, he is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, developing and validating molecular assays, implementing rigorous quality management systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mentoring scientists to strengthen capacity in molecular diagnostics in line with the highest international standards.

Beyond his leadership in the laboratory, he has successfully supervised the design, installation, and optimization of multiple molecular diagnostic laboratories across Nigeria. His commitment to continuous improvement, data-driven practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration has earned him recognition as a trusted figure among peers, clients, and partners in both the public and private health sectors.

Sharon Kalu

Sharon Kalu is an operations-driven administration and human resources professional with a strong focus on building structure, aligning teams, and ensuring the efficient execution of organizational processes. At DemyHealth, she leads administration and HR functions across national operations, overseeing the systems that support workforce management, internal coordination, and day-to-day business continuity.

Her role spans recruitment, staff management, policy enforcement, and cross-functional coordination, with a clear emphasis on maintaining operational stability across multiple locations. She has contributed to strengthening internal communication, improving documentation systems, and establishing more structured workflows that enhance accountability and efficiency across teams.

Sharon is recognized for her ability to bring order to complex environments, manage competing priorities, and maintain operational clarity under pressure. She works closely with leadership, staff, clients, and partners, acting as a central point of alignment between people, processes, and organizational goals.

She holds a degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and has completed professional training in Human Resource Management and workplace administration. Her additional experience in aviation operations reflects a disciplined approach to coordination, compliance, and structured systems management.

Her work is grounded in a practical understanding that strong organizations are built on clear systems, effective people management, and consistent execution.

Precious Osekafore Jegede

Molecular Biologist II

Precious Osekafore Jegede is a Molecular Scientist with research experience in molecular biology, toxicology, and biochemical investigations. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan and earned a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Covenant University, Nigeria.

During her undergraduate studies, she gained research experience in toxicological and biochemical studies, where she worked extensively with laboratory animals, including invertebrate models. She developed practical skills in animal handling, toxicological assessments, enzyme activity assays, and other biochemical laboratory procedures, building a strong foundation in experimental research and laboratory investigations.

At Covenant University, she worked as a research assistant in the University’s insectary and cancer genomic laboratories, where she further developed her expertise in molecular biology techniques. She gained hands-on experience in techniques such as DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), agarose gel electrophoresis, and the use of spectrophotometry instruments for laboratory analysis.

Precious has also participated in several scientific trainings, workshops, and conferences focused on research advancement and laboratory skills development. In 2024, she presented at the College of Science and Technology Conference held at Covenant University, demonstrating her commitment to scientific research and knowledge dissemination. She is also a published researcher, contributing to the growing body of scientific knowledge.

Precious is passionate about applying molecular and biochemical research toward solving real-world health and scientific challenges. She remains committed to continuous learning and contributing meaningfully to research that advances human health and societal development.
